 The Central Asia Institute (CAI), founded by Three Cups of Tea author Greg Mortenson, is dedicated to the idea that educating children, especially girls, is the key to peace and prosperity in the impoverished nation of Afghanistan. We at American Support for Afghanistan couldn't agree more. That's why we're working to raise $400 to support a CAI girl's school in Afghanistan.
CAI has built over 30 schools in Afghanistan. Each school requires years of planning and the coordination and cooperation with the local community. After a school is built, CAI maintains support of the school until the community is able to sustain it independently. Supporting a school for one year in Afghanistan costs $5000. Our partners at the Conejo Valley Rotary Club have already raised the impressive sum of $4600. ASA has pledged to help raise the rest.
Please give what you can to help these Afghan children have the education they deserve. Funds raised beyond the $400 needed for the school will be used in our ongoing support of Afghan orphans in the city of Kabul.
